SDID is an organization made up of individuals who work in the design field and are interested in upgrading the interior design profession in order to better serve the community. SDID identifies the designer as someone who has met professional standards through education, training, and experience. Since the induction of the organization in 1992, SDID has developed a number of goals, which are as follows:

• Improve communication with architects in the community.
• Continue a relationship with the ASID Student Chapter at SDSU.
• Provide opportunities for networking.
• Increase social interaction and support among designers.
• Increase local professional membership in national interior design organizations.
